Arnica Herbal Balm | 120g | Arnica and Newbouldia Body Balm

This Arnica Herbal Balm is a 120g cosmetic body balm built around two botanical extracts: arnica, long used in European herbal preparations, and newbouldia, a West African tree whose bark and leaves appear in traditional preparations there. The balm is thick and slow-melting, the sort you scoop with a fingertip rather than pour.

How this Arnica Herbal Balm is used

Take a small amount, roughly the size of a pea, and warm it between the fingers until it softens. Work it into the skin with slow, firm circles. Shoulders, the backs of the calves, the forearms and the hands are the usual places people reach for it, typically after a long walk, a training session or a day spent at a desk. A 120g jar is generous and will last months at that rate of use.

Texture and finish

The base is deliberately rich, so it sits on the surface for a while before sinking in. That is intentional in a massage balm, since a fast-absorbing cream gives you nothing to work with. Expect a light sheen for ten or fifteen minutes afterwards. The scent is herbal and earthy rather than perfumed, coming from the botanicals themselves rather than added fragrance.

Cautions and storage

For external use only. Do not apply to broken skin, open wounds or damaged skin, and keep it away from the eyes and mouth. Patch test on a small area of the inner forearm before first full use, particularly if you have sensitive skin or react to plants in the daisy family, to which arnica belongs. Keep out of the reach of children. Store at room temperature with the lid closed; warm conditions will soften the balm, which does not affect it.
