Using it

Scoop a small amount with a fingertip and let it melt for a few seconds before applying. Massage into the skin using firm circular pressure, concentrating on the shoulders, neck, calves or the soles of the feet. Most people use it in the evening, when there is time to work it in properly. Wash your hands afterwards.

Texture and how far a tin goes

Because the base is wax rather than water, a little covers a surprising area once warmed, and the tin lasts far longer than the same volume of lotion would. It leaves a light sheen on the skin for a few minutes, so allow it to settle before dressing. Rubbing it in fully takes a moment longer than a cream, which is rather the point.

Cautions and storage

External use only. Keep away from the eyes and mouth, and do not apply to broken or damaged skin. Arnica belongs to the daisy family, so if you react to chamomile, ragweed or marigold, patch test on the inner forearm and wait twenty-four hours before wider use.
