£17.99

Magnesium Flakes 1kg is a pure magnesium chloride flake for foot and body soaking, supplied in a resealable 1kg bucket.

Why a bucket rather than a bag

Magnesium chloride is hygroscopic, which is a technical way of saying it pulls moisture out of the air. In a paper or poly bag that means the flakes soften and cake together within weeks of opening. A rigid bucket with a press-down lid keeps the pack sealed between uses and lets you scoop straight from it with a dry measure. That is the practical difference between flakes that still pour after a month and flakes you have to break apart with a spoon.

1kg is the size to start with. It covers three or four full baths, or a much longer run of foot soaks, without committing to the 5kg bucket before you know whether the ritual suits you.

What is in it

  • 1kg resealable bucket of magnesium chloride flakes
  • 100% magnesium chloride — nothing else added
  • Unscented and uncoloured, with no fragrance, filler or preservative
  • Suitable for full baths, foot soaks and compresses
  • From the same supplier as our 5kg bucket, so the flakes are identical

Ingredients: magnesium chloride hexahydrate flakes.

How to use Magnesium Flakes 1kg

  • Foot soak: dissolve two to three tablespoons in a bowl of hot water and soak for fifteen to twenty minutes. This is much the most economical way to use a 1kg bucket.
  • Full bath: add roughly 250g to 300g to warm running water and stir until dissolved. Soak for around twenty minutes.
  • Compress: dissolve a tablespoon in a mug of warm water, soak a flannel and hold it against the area.
  • Most people use it in the evening, as part of winding down rather than starting the day.

Good to know

The flakes may soften or clump if the lid is left off. That is normal for magnesium chloride and does not affect how they dissolve. Press the lid down fully after use and store somewhere dry. Use a dry scoop rather than wet hands, which introduce moisture into the bucket. Rinse the bath afterwards, as you would with any bath salt.

Safety

For external use only. Do not swallow. Avoid contact with eyes. Do not apply to broken or freshly shaved skin. Some people notice a mild tingling on first use, which is common with magnesium chloride — use less in the water if it is uncomfortable. If you are pregnant, or have a skin, circulatory or kidney condition, speak to your doctor first. Keep out of reach of children.

This is a cosmetic bathing product, not a food supplement.

More about Magnesium Flakes 1kg

Magnesium chloride flakes dissolve more readily, and at lower water temperatures, than traditional Epsom salt. That is the main practical difference between the two and the usual reason people move across. There is no fragrance and no colourant here, so the water stays clear and the bath is left much as it was found.

The 1kg bucket suits foot soaks and occasional baths. For daily full-bath use the 5kg bucket works out considerably cheaper per soak and contains exactly the same flakes. For external use only. Reseal fully after each use and keep out of the reach of children.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What are Power Aura Magnesium Flakes 1kg?
A: Power Aura Magnesium Flakes 1kg are pure magnesium chloride in a resealable bucket, unscented and unrefined. The 1kg size is enough for several full baths or a long run of foot soaks, and is a sensible size before moving up to the 5kg. For external use only.
Q: What are magnesium flakes?
A: Magnesium flakes are magnesium chloride in solid flake form, which dissolves in warm water. They are used in baths and foot soaks rather than swallowed. Magnesium chloride is a different compound from the magnesium sulphate sold as Epsom salts.
Q: How do you use magnesium flakes?
A: Add the flakes to the bath while the hot water is still running so they dissolve evenly, then soak. For a foot soak, dissolve a smaller quantity in a bowl of warm water. Reseal the bucket afterwards, as the flakes draw moisture from the air.
Q: How many baths does 1kg of magnesium flakes make?
A: A 1kg bucket covers several full baths, or a considerably longer run of foot soaks since these use much less per session. If you soak regularly, the 5kg bucket works out cheaper per bath.
Q: What is the difference between magnesium flakes and Epsom salts?
A: The difference is the compound. Magnesium flakes are magnesium chloride, while Epsom salts are magnesium sulphate. Both dissolve in a warm bath. These flakes are completely unscented and unrefined, whereas many Epsom products are fragranced.
Q: How should magnesium flakes be used safely?
A: Magnesium flakes are for external use only and must not be swallowed. Keep them out of reach of children, avoid contact with the eyes, and do not use on broken skin. If you are pregnant or have a medical condition, speak to your doctor before taking mineral baths.
